Description

Court Farmhouse is a late 17th and early 18th century farmhouse, with alterations made in the mid-19th century. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish and English bond, with one range resting on a stone plinth. The roof is covered with graduated Welsh slate, and there are two brick chimneys. The building follows an L-shaped plan.

The two-bay east front is two storeys and has an attic. A brick band runs across the first and second floors. It features inserted four-pane sash windows with smaller gauged and rubbed brick heads; these are half-glazed where they join the two-bay north range, which also has a brick band at the first floor level. Wooden casements and small two-light sliding sashes are found in the attic.

Inside, the main room has an inglenook fireplace with a heavy, chamfered cambered bressumer. The chimney breast contains a cupboard with a board door. A domed brick oven survives at the rear. The rooms retain heavy chamfered ceiling beams and four-panelled, grained doors.

The lower stable, added to the north range, is not of particular architectural interest.
