Description
Gibbet Windmill is a former windmill that has been converted into a house. It dates from the late 18th century and underwent renovations, extensions, and conversion into a residence in 1960 for the Parker family. The building is constructed of washed English bond brick and features a weather-boarded and shingled cap. It has three storeys and a loft over a basement. The tall, tapering brick tower includes 2-light casements with glazing bars, some of which were inserted and others that use original openings. The sails are copies of the originals but have been shortened and do not rotate. To the south, there is a single-storey extension with a Welsh slate roof added in the 20th century, and the basement has been converted into a garage. Inside, a massive partly shaped post runs up through the tower, and the loft contains a large cast-iron shaft supported by a square wooden framework.
