Description
The White Lion Inn is a public house dating from 1614, as indicated by a carving on the door head. It features a brick nogged timber frame and brickwork, topped with a thatched roof. The building has two storeys and is composed of two bays, with a two-bay gabled return to the west and a later rear addition to the north. The timber framing includes small sections with angle braces, while the east gable has been rebuilt in brick. The original mullion windows have been replaced with lead lattice casements, and the oak boarded door has been replaced but retains false strap hinges within its original oak frame. The building has timber eaves gutters. Inside, there is dado level oak panelling with a Jacobean fluted frieze, boarded doors with strap hinges, an inglenook fireplace, and exposed ceiling joists with bevelled edges.
