Description

Churchfield Farmhouse is a farmhouse from the early 17th century with early 19th century alterations, now serving as a dwelling. It is built of red brick and features a tile roof. The building has two storeys and three bays, with a gabled design. Originally constructed in an "L" shape, a rear wing was added later. The front porch projects and has a stilted cambered lintel with a label, along with a pitched roof that includes coping and kneelers. The porch contains a four-panel door with gothic tops on the upper panels, set in an ovolo moulded dowelled frame. The windows are three-light casements with glazing bars, and those on the ground floor and first floor in the gable also have labels.

Inside, the farmhouse features four deeply bevelled beams that frame a ceiling of nine panels, along with an inglenook. There are ovolo moulded and bevelled beams, and timber framing is visible in the internal walls. The structure includes jointed cruck and queen post trusses, as well as ledged and battened six-panel doors. To the east of the farmhouse, there is a barn (not listed) that has 17th century collar and strutted trusses, which supports the dating of the farmhouse.
