Description
The Trustee Savings Bank, dated 1857 and likely designed by Sir George Scott, is a Gothic-style building located on the north side of Hightown. It is constructed of red brick with stone dressings and features decorations of blue brick. The building is two storeys high and includes stone quoins. Notable architectural elements include a two-light stone mullioned and traceried window beneath a gable with a crocketted pinnacle, a two-light oriel window, and a three-light mullioned window, all adorned with stone traceried heads. The entrance is framed by a moulded stone surround with a shallow pointed arched head. To the right, there is a gabled bay with a mullioned transomed window, while the central bay features two pointed arched windows and a doorway set in a pointed arched reveal, complete with a stone tympanum and a toothed brick hood mould. The building is topped with a moulded stone cornice, a brick parapet, and slate roofing.
