Description
The weir at the north end of Clough Pool, dated 1800, was built for Edward Collier. It is constructed from rubble sandstone with hammer-dressed edges. The tall, curving dam wall supports three steps, which are flanked by low revetment walls that have a curved top. Each side of the weir features a block with a well-carved inscription of "E * C MDCCC." The two sides are connected by the remains of an iron sluice. This weir supplies a race that runs along the hillside to enter Ingersley Vale Mill at roof level, which formerly powered the second largest water wheel in Great Britain.
