Description
This is a raised pavement situated in front of numbers 9 to 39 (odd) on Rood Hill. The pavement is generally paved with concrete flags, although some large stone slabs remain at the northern end. A section at the southern end features blue brick paving. The raised pavement is supported by a retaining wall constructed of coursed stone rubble and slightly angled to create a batter. This wall incorporates a double flight of stone steps, which are significantly worn, leading up to number 13. The wall is topped with 19th-century wrought iron railings.
