Description
This early 19th-century raised pavement fronts numbers 1 to 20 of Caroline Buildings. Constructed from sandstone flags raised on a low wall of coursed stone, it is bordered by a heavy, dragged sandstone curb that slopes down to road level at one end and has a ramp at the other. A short set of steps divides the pavement centrally. A plain late 20th-century iron rail runs along the road side. The pavement represents a good survival and is historically significant as a feature associated with the adjacent houses.
