Description

Fallows Hall is a farmhouse with a core dating to the 17th century, with a significant addition from the early 18th century, and subsequent alterations made in the early 19th and 20th centuries. The construction incorporates irregular bond and English garden wall bond orange brick, with a Kerridge stone-slate roof and a stone ridge. There are three brick chimneys, one featuring two diamond-shaped stacks.

The building has a roughly L-shaped plan. The front façade is two-storeys and four bays wide. The left-hand bay has wooden casement windows with three lights, set beneath stone lintels. Above one of these windows is a blocked mullion window with two lights. A five-panelled door, with a raised field panel in the centre, is flanked by a two-light casement on either side, with a three-light casement above them, all set within stone lintels. The two right-hand bays project under a gable and contain four 20th-century single-light windows, set beneath flat brick heads.

Internally, the right-hand portion of the house appears to have originally been timber-framed. An inglenook fireplace remains, featuring a chamfered firebeam and a deeply chamfered ceiling beam with a bead stop. In another room, a ceiling beam is bead moulded. Two 17th-century eight-panelled doors, with reeded rails and newels from the original staircase, are also present. The purlins and ridge remain original, while the trusses date to the early 19th century.
