Description
North Lodge to Capesthorne Park is a gate lodge built around 1843 by Edward Blore. It is constructed of red Flemish bond brick with ashlar dressings and features a felt roof. The building stands three storeys high with a square tower.
On the road front, there is a stone plinth and quoins that are consistent on all sides. The ground floor has a two-light mullioned casement window with a stone surround and a cavetto-moulded lintel, featuring two sets of four sash panes in each light. The first and second floors have similar windows. Above, a stone entablature supports a panelled parapet, which has square panelled posts at the corners topped with pierced ogee finials on the left and a chimney stack on the right. The roof is ogee-shaped and carries a ball finial with a flag pole.
To the right, there is a 20th-century ground floor extension. The left side features a door with a stone surround flanked by single-light windows, with similar windows on the first and second floors as seen on the road front. At the rear, there is one single-light window on the second floor.
