Description
Clock House Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 16th century, with alterations from the 18th century and early 20th-century additions. It is built of English garden wall bond brick on a stone plinth, topped with a Kerridge stone-slate roof and featuring three brick chimneys. The original structure had a two-bay cruck framed plan, but one bay has been demolished, resulting in an L-shaped layout. The south range displays a full cruck frame visible in the gable, along with a timber framed porch that is now isolated. The windows include a mix of two and three-light iron casements, as well as one three-light wood mullioned window, all set under cambered brick heads. Inside, another full cruck frame is visible, and there is a massive stone inglenook fireplace with a chamfered beam, which features two niches for candles and a modern stone grate; this fireplace was originally central to the room. A decorative catch is present on the wood mullioned window. Additionally, there is a sunken room in the south-west corner of the house that was formerly used as a dairy.
