Description
Butler's Cottage is a cottage that served as the residence for the butler at Hare Hill. It was built in the early 19th century and underwent alterations in the mid-19th century. The cottage is constructed from rusticated brick and features a Welsh slate roof with two gable plastered chimneys. It has a symmetrical two-storey front with three bays. The end bays contain three-light wooden casements with lozenge-shaped panes set on stone sills. There is a framed and boarded door located behind a rustic gabled wooden trellised porch. To the right of the entrance, there is a simple verandah supported by brick piers. The building was refenestrated during a period when the house and its lodges were made to appear more picturesque, although this cottage remains a more modest structure.
