Description
Higher Yewtree Farmhouse is a former farmhouse, now a house, dating from the mid 16th century, with later extensions and 20th-century modernisation. The building is timber framed with brick nogging, some of which features herringbone patterns, and has brick extensions to the left and rear. It has a thatched roof and three brick chimneys. The structure displays almost close-studding with two middle rails, resulting in 19 by 3 small timber frames. The front is 1½ stories high with four bays. The lower windows are 20th-century casements with applied lead glazing, and there is a recent gabled porch. A single three-light half dormer is covered by the thatch. Inside, there are complicated mouldings on the ceiling beam and the front of the fire beam, along with a bead mould on the original front doorcase. A full cruck frame with a tie beam and short struts to the purlins is visible, while others may be concealed. The interior also features three four-board doors with wooden latches and handles.
