Description

The parish boundary stone, likely dated 1849, is an equilateral triangular block made of buff sandstone with a dormer top. Although the stone is deeply buried, the south-west face displays a "B" for Birtles, the east face shows an "M" for Macclesfield, and the north-west face has an "A" for Alderley. Similar boundary stones can be found along the Macclesfield borders, and it is probable that the date on this stone is obscured.
