Description

Finlow Hill Cottage is a mid- to late 18th-century farmhouse, later used as a house, with 20th-century additions. It is constructed of Flemish bond purple brick, with a Kerridge stone-slate roof, stone ridge, and two brick chimneys. The house has a symmetrical three-bay facade. The end bays each contain a three-light wooden casement window set within a cambered brick head. The central bay projects slightly and is topped by a simple triangular pediment. An added open timber gabled porch stands in front the central entrance, featuring a three-light casement window above and an elliptical light in its pediment. A sympathetic extension is present to the right, alongside a lean-to greenhouse to the left. Finlow Hill Cottage shares a design with Higher House Farmhouse in Over Alderley.
