Description

The milestone located 25 meters south of Redcroft is a historical marker likely dating from 1824, although the stone was replaced in the late 20th century. It is made of buff sandstone and has a lancet shape. The milestone supports a cast-iron plaque that indicates distances to London, which is 175 miles away, Macclesfield at 5 miles, and Stockport at 7 miles. A complete example of this type of milestone can be found on London Road North in Poynton.
