Description

Brook House Farmhouse is a former farmhouse that has been converted into a house. It dates from the 17th century, with a significant addition made in the early 19th century. Part of the building features a timber frame set on a sandstone base, with some areas filled with plaster and others with brick. The rest of the house is made of rendered brick. It has a Kerridge stone-slate roof and four brick chimneys. The north gable end displays a 5 by 3 timber frame with angle braces supporting the tiebeam. There are two 20th-century wooden casement windows. Inside, the exposed roof truss includes a tiebeam, two diagonal braces, and a collar above, with purlins running through. The sides of the house also show 4 by 3 timber frames.
