Description
Springfield Cottage is a late 17th century cottage with later additions. It features a brick nogged timber frame and a corrugated metal sheet roof. The building is single storey with an attic and consists of two bays. The facade has irregular small framing with angle braces, and there are two gables. The windows have been replaced, but there is one original metal casement located in the apex of the south gable. The upper windows are situated in the gables and in a gabled dormer. There are 20th century single storey lean-to additions on the south gable and at the rear (west). The modern entrance door is located in the lean-to on the south gable. The gable barge boards add to the cottage's character. Inside, there are bevelled beams and exposed ceiling joists.
