Description

A row of cottages dated 1861, built as two adjacent ranges for Lord Crewe. The cottages are constructed of red brick with stone dressings and blue brick diapering, and have tile roofs. The left-hand range features a central, one-windowed projecting bay with a stone-coped gable and quoins on its sides, displaying the date "1861" in blue brick. Each cottage has a casement window that breaks through the eaves, and the ground-floor windows are generally modern sashes with shallow, pointed-arch heads. The doorways are plain, typically with ledged doors. The right-hand range has two slightly projecting gabled bays, later or modern windows, and plain doorways with modern doors. This range also has cogged eaves and tiled roofing.
