Description
The memorial sundial, dating from around 1870, is located in the graveyard of the Unitarian Chapel on Adlington Road in Wilmslow. It is constructed from buff sandstone and features three square steps that support a square base with a hollow chamfered top. The shaft is chamfered and has a projecting cornice, which supports a square head adorned with colonettes at each corner. On the west, south, and east faces, there are three simple copper sundials, while the north face displays a plaque that reads "IN REMEMBERANCE OF THE FOUNDERS OF DEAN ROW CHAPEL, CIRCA 1688." The cap of the sundial is designed to resemble a tiled pyramidal roof. This sundial is listed for its group value context.
