Description
Deanwater House is a 17th-century barn that has been converted into a hotel reception and bar. It features a timber box frame with brick nogging and a slate roof, consisting of four structural bays that are open to the roof in all but one bay. A 20th-century porch has been added at the front, along with wings at the rear. The lower half of the structure is largely brick, while the upper section above a horizontal rail showcases small square panels that are richly decorated with curved members. The building includes three 20th-century casement windows, two 20th-century doors, one original door, and two loft hatches. The right bay is of a later date and features a brick chimney stack, along with a 20th-century dormer window. Inside, there are two king-post roof trusses. The site was first inhabited by the Andrew family in 1632.
