Description

The lychgate at Christ Church was built in 1876 for Mary Bayne Murray. It is constructed of brick with ashlar dressings and features a slate roof. The brick side walls have a stone base and an ashlar dressed opening, with corbelled eaves. Notable elements include a heraldic shield, coped gables with ball finials and kneelers, and a wallplate that is inscribed and embellished with a series of curved brackets with turned finials. This lychgate is included for its group value.
