Description

This is a farmhouse dating from the 16th and 17th centuries, with later alterations. It is built on a stone plinth, originally with wattle and daub infill between the timber frame, but now with brick additions, a rendered rear, and a 20th-century tile roof. The building follows a T-shaped plan; the original section has been raised from one to two storeys and extended by one bay, alongside a lean-to and a porch. The first projecting bay at the front and rear is gabled and has a coved jetty at both the first-floor and gable levels, featuring decorative, diagonally-set square-panel timber framing. Each floor of this bay has a six-light mullion and transom window with leaded lights, and the corner posts incorporate carved pilasters. The second and third bays were raised in height using brick, likely when the fourth bay was constructed. The framing in these bays is close-studded, with two three-light and one two-light windows of a later date. The fourth bay includes a porch and features two three-light windows, along with a lean-to on the side and rear. The interior has not been inspected. The building was formerly the home of the Davenport family.
