Description
Hough Hall Farmhouse is a farmhouse dated 1691, with 19th century and early 20th century additions. It is built of orange brick in English garden wall bond, with buff sandstone dressings, a Welsh slate roof, and five brick chimneys. The original structure features a three-storey, symmetrical, three-bay east front, with stone quoins and moulded stone bands at the first and second floors. The end bays have tall, chamfered, two-light stone mullioned windows on the ground and first storeys. The heavy moulded and rebated doorcase includes a central carved shield on the lintel that reads "DEM 1691." Above the door is a circular light set in a square stone surround, and there is a similar two-light stone mullioned window in the top storey. Later extensions have been added in brick to the right and left. The rear of the farmhouse is roughcast but features additional stone-mullioned windows and a Venetian-style window. Inside, there are two original bead moulded ceiling beams, while the rest of the interior, including the wainscotting and flat baluster stairs, dates from the early 20th century.
