SJ 88 SE MOTTRAM ST.ANDREW C.P. MILL LANE (East Side)

2/82 Mill Lane Farmhouse (formerly listed as Mill Farm House)

14/4/1967 II

Farmhouse: early C18 with a mid C18 facade. Flemish bond red brick to front, purple red brick to sides and rear, both on ashlar sandstone plinth. Kerridge stone-slate roof, stone ridge and 2 gabled brick chimneys. 2½ storeys, symmetrical 5-bay front (2:1:2). Windows are flush 16-pane sashes under flat gauged and rubbed brick heads with stone keyblocks and sills. Door approached by 2 stone steps has an eared architrave with a flat hood above. Plain rectangular fanlight and door with 4 recessed panels. Above is a 16-pane sash and a blocked window in a simple triangular pediment. The right gable has a wooden mullioned and transomed window with lattice leaded iron casements under a cambered brick head.

Interior: Not inspected but an arcade of 3 semi-circular stone arches visible in kitchen to contain boilers.

At one time this was the Mottram Hall agent's house which may explain its refacing.
