Description
Mottram Hall Farmhouse, formerly the barn of Mottram Old Hall, dates from the late 16th century and has had 20th-century additions and alterations. The building is timber framed with brick nogging set on a sandstone plinth, topped with a Kerridge stone-slate roof and featuring two brick chimneys. It has a rectangular plan with five bays. The two-storey south front displays 16 small timber frames arranged in three rows, with angle bracing at the wall plate. One bay on the right is obscured by an added lean-to. The inserted 20th-century windows are two-light casements, accompanied by two half-glazed doors. The east gable features herringboning and an ovolo moulding on the tie-beam. The north front has plastered brick panels and two 20th-century gabled timber-framed additions.
