Description

St. Andrews Cottage is a 17th-century farmhouse, subsequently altered and extended in the 20th century. It is timber framed with rendered stone plinth, and has a Kerridge stone-slate roof with a stone ridge. Originally rectangular, it is now L-shaped. The front elevation shows evidence of 7 by 3 timber framing with angle bracing of the wall plate. There are two 20th-century casement windows on the ground floor, and a three-light casement to a gabled half-dormer with coving above the window. A gable end displays a tiebeam and collar roof truss. A projecting gabled timber-framed porch at this end is a later addition. The interior has largely been altered, although some exposed ceiling beams remain, their original positions possibly uncertain.
