Description

This barn, dating to the early 19th century, stands 25 metres north of Lower Pedleyhill Farmhouse. Constructed of English garden wall bond red brick with some buff sandstone dressings, it has a Welsh slate roof. The rectangular barn has a south front featuring a central, elliptically headed cart entrance, with a semi-circular headed door leading to stables on the right. The right gable has an elliptical headed opening to a coachhouse, and the left gable has three semi-circular headed doors providing access to two shippons and a central feeding passage. The interior retains stone flags and timber stalls within the shippon, and a stone flagged floor to the corn barn. This is a well-preserved example of a good, but modest, farm building of varied function, dating to the early 19th century.
