Description
The entrance gateway and flanking lodges at the south entrance of Corporation Park were built in 1855. Designed in a triumphal arch style, the gateway features a tall round arch at the center, adorned with fine mouldings. This central arch is flanked by two tiers of smaller round arches and is topped with a rich cornice and pediment, which includes a shield of arms, the date, scrolls, and a bird finial. The ground floor is rusticated, while the upper part is finished in ashlar. On each side of the gateway, there is a small lodge with pairs of round-arched windows.
