Description

This late 18th-century farm building and yard wall stands to the north of Peareth Hall Farmhouse. The building, originally animal shelters and a loft, is constructed of ashlar with a low-pitched roof renewed in corrugated asbestos. It has an L-shape, with one storey and a basement on the west side and two storeys on the lower eastern slope. A band runs horizontally at floor level. The basement features two round-arched openings to animal shelters, each with cut voussoirs, a hollow chamfer, and an impost band. The animal shelters within have internal brick barrel vaults. The upper elevations are largely blank, except for a door on the north side and two sunken window panels on the first floor east. A one-storey extension of similar materials adjoins the east side. The yard enclosure wall is straight on the west side, curving to meet the eastern corner. Concrete feeding troughs are incorporated into the coping. A one-storey extension to the south, built of iron and timber, is not considered to be of interest.
