Description
The Old Hall Smithy is a smithy that has been converted into a pottery. It dates from the mid to late 18th century and is constructed of sandstone rubble with a roof made of pantiles. The building is one storey high and consists of four bays. The central entrance features a Dutch door, which is set beneath a plain wooden lintel. This door is flanked by square casement windows that have vertical glazing bars and hooks for external shutters.
To the right, there is a lower extension that has corner timber posts supporting a beam for the pitched roof. This extension includes full-width windows with glazing bars that were added in the 20th century, as well as a plank and batten door located in the south wall. The overall structure has a low-pitched hipped roof with two brick chimneys at either end.
