Description
Two lamp standards are located in front of the main entrance to the Museum and Library in Sunderland. These lamp standards were originally placed in front of Sunderland Town Hall, which opened in 1890 and was demolished in 1971. They date from around 1910 and are made of cast iron. Each standard features a panelled octagonal base that supports a cluster of foliage, from which a tapered post rises. Each standard has three lamp holders: two on arms and one at the top, which may have been restored. The lamp standards are flanked by additional standards that date from around 1980.
