Description
This is a lamp standard located south-west of the War Memorial in Sunderland, dating from around 1925. It is made of cast iron and features highly decorative elements. The lamp standard has an octagonal base that supports a fluted post, which springs from acanthus foliage. At the top, there is a moulded section with four ornamental brackets, each holding a light globe. The name of the founder is present at the base but is heavily overpainted.
