Description

This is a lamp standard located north-east of the War Memorial in Sunderland, dating from around 1925. It is made of cast iron and features intricate decorations. The lamp has an octagonal base that supports a fluted post, which emerges from acanthus foliage. At the top, there is a moulded section with four ornamental brackets, each holding a light globe. The name of the founder is located at the base, but it has been heavily overpainted.
