Description

A row of five houses, dated approximately 1840, forming part of Huntington Place in Tynemouth. The houses are constructed of English bond brick (in numbers 4-6) and Flemish bond brick (in numbers 7 and 8), with painted ashlar dressings and a Welsh slate roof featuring flat stone gable copings. The buildings have a basement and three storeys, each with two bays. Each house has a four-panelled door with overlight, set in a deep reveal within an architrave, located in the second bay. Basement doors are accessed by a flight of steps. Windows have wedge stone lintels and projecting stone sills. The windows of number 6 retain their original glazing bars; number 7 has top-hung casements with glazing bars. Inserted canted bay windows are present on the ground floor of numbers 4, 5, and 8; the remaining windows are sash windows without glazing bars. There is an eaves/lintel band and a gutter cornice. Each house has a brick chimney at one end.
