Description

The accommodation arch, located east of the junction with Martin Road in Wallsend, was likely built around 1839 by Green for the Newcastle and North Shields Railway Company. It is constructed from rusticated pecked sandstone and ashlar. The arch features coursed squared sandstone abutments that support a skew arch with voussoirs. Additionally, there are rusticated retaining walls and a band at the railway bed level, topped by a flat-coped ashlar parapet.
