Description

The stocks located to the west of the Church of St. Peter are a Grade II listed structure from 1816. Made of wrought iron, these stocks were installed as a form of punishment for sabbath-breakers. The historical context of the stocks is documented in W. Richardson's "History of the Parish of Wallsend," published in 1923.
