Description

These are a row of ten houses, with a two-bay wing to the left, dating to around 1840 and now used as offices. The houses are constructed of English garden wall bond brick, with a painted ashlar plinth and dressings, and have a Welsh slate roof. They have a basement and three storeys, with the right-hand bay projecting. The basement has blocked openings with wedge stone lintels. The sashes on the ground and first floors have been altered with late 19th-century glazing bars; the original sashes remain on the second floor, featuring projecting stone sills. A sill band runs along the ground floor, and aprons and a sill band are present on the first floor. The hipped roof to the right has four ashlar-corniced brick chimneys. The right return has stone steps leading to a wide doorway with an overlight in an architrave. The left wing has paired hardboard-covered doors with overlights in architraves. The sashes of the left wing have wedge stone lintels, some with margin lights, with projecting stone sills to the ground floor and sill and eaves bands. A gutter cornice runs around the building. The left wing’s roof incorporates two segmental-headed dormers with renewed glazing and two segmental headed ridge chimneys.
