Description
The piers, walls, gates, and railings in front of Elswick Lodge date from around 1844 and are constructed of sandstone, with some sections in ashlar and others in snecked stone. The high ashlar walls are flanked by two octagonal gate piers featuring overlapping coping. There are square piers surrounding the garden, with two at the corners, two at the front, and five on the right side. The snecked sandstone wall has chamfered coping. The Gothic-style cast iron railings are adorned with leafy standards. The double boarded gates have an open upper section and are fitted with wrought iron strap hinges.
