Description
The walls, gate piers, gates, and railings surrounding the Church and Presbytery of St. Michael were built between 1889 and 1891 by the architectural firm Dunn, Hansom and Dunn. They are constructed from snecked, rock-faced sandstone, ashlar, and wrought iron. The north wall features chamfered ashlar coping, while the east and west walls have bulbous rock-faced coping. There are two piers to the north and two to the west of the church, along with one pier to the east of the presbytery. These piers are square and made of ashlar, with plinths, blind quatrefoil tracery, high gables, and fleur-de-lis moulding. The gates have spearhead standards with dog bars, and the railings are topped with cross finials.
