Description
No. 8 Bigg Market is an 18th-century house that has been converted into offices and a shop. The building features incised render and a Welsh slate roof, standing four storeys high with three bays. There is a door on the right side that leads to the upper floors. The windows are wide-boxed sashes, with those on the third floor having glazing bars. The painted lintels above the windows are carved to resemble alternately-raised voussoirs, and there are slightly-projecting painted stone sills on the second and third floors. The central window on the third floor is blind. The building has quoin strips and tumbled-in brickwork on the right return gable, with a chimney located at the front right end. Inside, there is an open-well staircase with a ramped grip handrail leading from the first floor, featuring fat turned balusters.
