Description

This mid-to-late 18th-century house and shop, now a shop and offices, is located on the west side of Groat Market in Newcastle upon Tyne. The upper floors are finished in incised stucco, while the roof is covered with Welsh slate. The ground floor has been renewed. The building is three storeys high and three bays wide. The windows have been renewed and are set beneath wedge stone lintels, incised to imitate the appearance of voussoirs, with aproned, moulded sills. The steeply-pitched roof has swept eaves. The building is included on the list for its group value.
