Description
The Town Wall with Durham Tower, located on Bath Lane in Newcastle upon Tyne, dates from the late 13th century. It is constructed from large sandstone blocks and features a high wall that includes a walkway and a steeply-coped parapet, with corbelled turrets. The Durham Tower has a semi-circular external wall facing Bath Lane, which includes a thin stone lintel above the entrance on the north side. There are two slits on the west and south sides, and large corbels, some of which are damaged, at the top of the tower. The interior of the tower displays a ribbed barrel vault.
