Description

This is a terrace of houses located on the east side of St. Thomas' Square in Newcastle upon Tyne. Number 1 was likely constructed around 1842, while numbers 3 to 9 date to around 1862. The terrace was restored around 1982. The buildings are constructed of English garden wall bond brick with ashlar dressings, and have Welsh slate roofs. They comprise a basement and two storeys, with three bays each.

Number 1 features a four-panelled door with a plain overlight, recessed within an architrave, centrally located. The remaining houses have a similar door at the left-hand side. The windows are sash windows with glazing bars, each with a wedge stone lintel. There are projecting stone gills on the ground floor and a sill band on the first floor. Brick chimneys, some with ashlar cornices, rise from low-pitched roofs. The terrace is fronted by cast iron area railings and gates, featuring spear-headed details.
