Description
The former lodge to Benwell Towers is a mid-19th century building located on the north side of Benwell Lane in Newcastle upon Tyne. It is constructed of snecked sandstone with ashlar dressings and a plinth, topped with a stone slate roof. The lodge is designed in the Tudor style and consists of one storey and an attic, featuring three bays.
To the right of the center, there is a gabled porch that includes a shouldered ledged boarded door. The windows are shouldered, with a two-light window on the left and a single window on the right, both featuring glazing bars. There are also two sash windows with late 19th-century glazing bars located in gabled dormers that have bargeboards. A central ashlar chimney with a yellow pot is present, and the left side of the building has a triangular-section bay window facing the street.
