Description

Nos. 36 and 38 Half Moon Lane are mid-19th century shops with accommodation above. They are constructed of red brick with sandstone dressings, featuring a moulded eaves cornice and frieze, and a rusticated ground floor. The building has a low pitched Welsh slate roof with a rounded hip over the corner. It stands three storeys high, with four windows facing Half Moon Lane, a single window at the curved corner, and seven windows on Wellington Street. The first-floor windows are 4-pane sash windows, while the upper floors have 6-pane sash windows, all set in moulded stone surrounds. The corner section is slightly projecting and defined by quoins. There is a carriage arch with cut voussoirs on the right side. The ground floor shop windows feature moulded wooden fascia boards and recessed doors.
