Description
Nos. 13 and 14 High Street is a shop with accommodation above, dating from the early 19th century. It features a solid, rendered front wall and a slated roof with red ridge tiles. A red brick chimney with partial slate hanging is located on the right-end wall. The building is three storeys high with a garret and has a four-window front. The ground storey showcases a prominent late 19th-century shopfront that overlaps the bottoms of the second storey windows. This shopfront includes flanking wooden pilasters topped with tall bracketed blocks, which support an entablature and blindcase. Large display windows are separated by slender shafts, and the openings for the shop and house doors feature ornate iron brackets. The entrance to the recessed house door, which is a late 20th-century wood replacement, has shallow display windows on the right-hand side. The upper storey windows are fitted with 6 or 8-paned sashes, except for the left-hand second storey window, which has 2-paned sashes. The lower sashes of the other second storey windows have only one row of panes each. There are three dormers with cambered heads and 2-paned sashes. The interior has not been inspected.
