Description

No. 48 Durham Road is a building from the late 17th century or early 18th century, which has undergone some alterations. The front is rendered and features an eaves cornice made of stepped and diagonal brick courses. It has a fairly high-pitched roof covered with large Welsh slates, which may have been raised in the 19th century, and includes rebuilt end chimneys. The windows have modern casements set in exposed frames and feature keystones. The central entrance has a four-panel door topped by an oblong fanlight, all within a doorcase that includes pilasters and an entablature. At the rear, there is a 19th-century pentice. This building is included in the listing partly for its group value.
