Description

Dating to the 1870s, Wentworth House and Cleveland House are a two-story building with five ranges of late-glazed sash windows. The front is constructed of ashlar, featuring a dog-tooth course over the plinth and an enriched eaves cornice with small circular panels below. A carved band runs above the ground floor, and a stringcourse is located at the impost level of the elliptical-headed first-floor windows. The roof is hipped and covered in slate, with a crested ridge. There are two chimneys. The ground floor bays have three lights with wooden cornices. The central doorway comprises two flat orders, with porphyry in the jambs; the inner order is carved and serves as both capitals and a band at the capital level.
