Description
No. 41 Yarm Lane is a Grade II listed building dating from around 1875. This two-and-a-half storey former pair of houses features two windows on each side. The ground floor is finished in channelled ashlar, while the first floor is made of rough-faced coursed rubble. A moulded string course separates the two levels, and an enriched wood modillion cornice with pendants adorns the eaves. The slate roof is topped with two yellow brick chimneys and two dormers, each featuring a trefoil panel in the gable.
The building has plate glass sash windows, with open lozenge panels below. The outer windows are round-headed, framed by moulded architraves with key blocks; the left window is plain, while the right window is sculptured with Corinthian responds. The inner windows are two-light with wooden relieving arches; to the left, there is a central shaft and responds to two round-headed arches, which have masonic symbols above, while the right side is plain.
On the ground floor, there are two bays with a stone plinth and egg and dart cornices. The entrances on the left and right are pilastered doorpieces, also featuring egg and dart cornices, although the left-hand entrance has been converted into a window.
